This project is being conduct and reported on as part of and academic final year dissertation project (Level 8). This project aims to provide a baseline analysis of the habitats within the immediate grounds of the property. This project will utilise GIS techniques, field skills (sampling, recording, H+S etc.) and other technologies available while using guidance & literature available (Fossit''s Classification system & Best Practice Guidance for Habitat surveying and Mapping, 2011 by the Heritage council).
The survey area holds many larger species of interest but also supports a broad range of smaller habitats that may harbor species of conservation interest. These include but not limited to: 17th Century Orchard walls (various condition/age), castle (age/unknown), semi-natural woodlands. large barn - accessible for bats, small streams.
This project aims to provide information to improve best management and practice for improving and maintaining the site for its intrinsic natural, historical and biological values. This site is on private grounds and information may be restricted. Please note that further discussion will be held with third party individuals for educational purposes and the interest of the project.
