ALL TIME UNIDENTIFIED INVERTEBRATES
(with Links to the iSpot COLLECTIONS)

.
.
UPDATED July 2020
.
This project isolates the Unidentified Invertebrates in the UK but more are gradually being added - though the overall (historical) number is being reduced thanks to those who come and help.
.

CURRENTLY SET TO EXPOSE ALL TIME (though not those that are still showing in the Current Carousel - 10 days appx)

.
This all began with well over ELEVEN thousand and has been reduced to around 3700 (3690).
.
Please add an ID to any of them, this should be the Lowest taxa possible (Sub-species) to the highest necessary (Arthropoda) but READ any comments.
It is OK to add TWO IDs. with one as least likely but possible, as the first, then a higher one as second - the second one gets the Likely Banner.
EXAMPLE - https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/observation/22618/weevil
.
It is NICE to find useful comments when wading through these so, if nothing else PLEASE suggest that it might be impossible or could be a Mason Bee (might be this), for example.
.
.
The project began in Sept 2018 and was originally started to try to isolate Unidentified Moths -
https://www.ispotnature.org/communities/uk-and-ireland/view/project/769755/historic-unidentified-moths.
.
I would HOPE that others might find the energy and patience to help here. I am rescuing as many as I can, unfortunately having to use High-taxa IDs in many cases.

Collections are being formed that will allow specialists to tackle the ones without a decent ID - far better search Specific Collections than the Unidentified masses!

You are welcome to browse here and ID, or add a comment to, any that appeal to you.
We have removed those without pictures and may well have to abandon the most difficult ones.
I will keep up to date this description as often as I can - it's all quite time consuming.
