Brown-capped mushroom growing on fallen rotten log by path in wooded area in park. Cap 5 cm across, smooth, moist, brown, slightly lighter at centre, flattish with hint of an umbo, subtle radial fibre pattern. Gills adnate, whitish with brown patches. Stem about 5 cm long, 1 cm diameter, off-white, slight taper at top, twisted fibrils. Spore print brown, cap then turned to mush. Smell of hazel nuts which got stronger (sweet and sickly) as it rotted! Oval spores with off-centre "nipple".
