Observation - Stilbops ruficornis. Description: Several of these small ichneumons were investigating Field scabious flowerheads and then inserting their ovipositors deep into the flowers. I think they must be S. ruficornis as this is known to parasitise the eggs of longhorn moths Nemophora metallica,

Several of these small ichneumons were investigating Field scabious flowerheads and then inserting their ovipositors deep into the flowers. I think they must be S. ruficornis as this is known to parasitise the eggs of longhorn moths Nemophora metallica, and these moths were egglaying at the time. One is actually busy laying eggs on this flower as a wasp goes to work! Groups of males were gathered on other flowerheads between bouts of dancing to attract females.
