Dysdera crocata

Dysdera crocata

Observation - Dysdera crocata - UK and Ireland. Description: Found dead on gravel in garden, with most of one leg missing. Appeared to be recently dead, as press

Found dead on gravel in garden, with most of one leg missing. Appeared to be recently dead, as pressure on carapace caused leg extension (but no loss of haemolymph from missing leg joint, so this loss must have been sustained some time before - mugged by a gang of woodlice?).
Body length ca. 12 mm; red/brown carapace and legs; smooth unpatterned beige abdomen; female; chelicerae/fangs massive; 6 eyes in circular arrangement (see photos); 3 dorsal spines on femora IV (see photos).
