Upright growths (ca 3-4mm in length) on upper surface of beech leaves. The outgrowths were woody almost cylindrical and densely hairy with a white legless larva inside (dipterous insect larva?) On the abaxial surface there was a circular slightly raised layer corresponding to the location of the upper surface outgrowth.
