Reams of this dominating a lane-side bank in the Peak District hills.
Post-flowering period, medium-large (think Cow Parsley) umbelliferous plant. Leaflets rather soft and fluffy to the touch, in an attractive shade of light green, quite finely divided, and smelling strongly of aniseed when crushed. Large (up to around 1.5 cm or so) fruits, deeply furrowed longitudinally, held bolt upright, and blackening with maturity. Stems hollow, lightly grooved and pubescent.
