A rare moss refound after 100yrs

Observation - A rare moss refound after 100yrs - UK and Ireland. Description: This little ephemeral moss was once fairly common as it grew on mud-capped walls in the 19th and ear

This little ephemeral moss was once fairly common as it grew on mud-capped walls in the 19th and early 20th centuries. With the cessation of this practice, it has declined massively across the UK and few sites remain. It was a joy to find a large number of colonies doing very well alongside the equally rare moss Acaulon triquetrum on short turf on the edge of a cliff - a hunch based on a dubious 1909 record! A. triquetrum was new for the site and it appears that Pterygoneurum papillosum might also be present, though the sample is being sent away for confirmation.
