The sand cliffs at Prawle point are a great habitat for burrowing Aculeates. I normally come here in late September by which time the cliffs are swarming with emerging Ivy bees (Colletes) but at the beginning of September the Ivy hasn't flowered so no bees but there are Ammophila wasps, only a few and at the end of their time.
