Distinctive, medium sized moth observed on garden shrub. Our photos are close-ups for ID purposes but have to say that this species is incredibly well camouflaged from a distance, particularly when observed within foliage (Photo 6). The scalloped edges of the forewings and “shark fin” tufts of hair on the thorax serve to break up the outline. We believe that in profile (Photos 4,5) this species resembles a jet plane (yes I know...not very scientific). This species is easily identifiable by the triangular markings on each forewing but what we really love about this species is the subtle tones of colour ranging from pinks, greens, creams and browns – quite stunning!
