I would normally not even attempt to id a Russula other than genus but here goes. Lovely cherry red caps on the young ones fading when more mature the cap was sticky to touch and peeled right back sorry no photo but the midges were terrible and I was in a boggy mossy spot. The gills were white free and brittle. the stem was white flesh white fragile and stuffed smell fruity coconut did not taste as poisonous. They were scattered growing in a wide ditch which was boggy and full of mosses including sphagnum there were pines and birch growing nearby
