Ribbon worms observed underneath stone within rock pool, mid shore intertidal zone. The first photograph shows an ‘adult? in-situ, constricted length approx 15mm; fully extended approx 70mm (Photo 8). A short distance away were tiny reddish-pink coloured worms in a huddled mass (Photo 6). These may be a completely different species but aside from colour appear to share similar macro identification points to the larger worm, including markings along flanks (Photos 2,3 – zoom in). David Fenwick (aphotomarine) has some amazing photos of similar looking Nemertean species which we have added to Comments section: Our observation appears similar to Lineus ruber but also looked at Amphiporus elongatus; likely to be other candidates. We always welcome advice / support.
