The specimen was found on moss on a tarmac road surface at the access gate to Hare Moss which is a Scottish Wildlife Trust site. There were some 10 or so specimens in all. There did not appear to be any obvious nucleus as might be expected of, say, frog spawn although there were some black spots on the surface. During a 6 day period the mass appeared to grow in size. Weather condition during that time were quite damp and foggy. Daytime temperature were 10 to 12 degrees with night being 2 to 6. The exact site is some 50m from a small loch surrouded by trees.
