Beautiful specimens of blue capped Stropharia growing on calcareous grassland area, near main playing field area. Fortunate to see various developmental stages in small locale and please excuse the number of photos – sometimes you get carried away and this was one of those moments! The majority of specimens were washed out but we did find some real gems on our searches (Photos 1 & 2). Young specimens are aquamarine in colour with small areas of yellow. Caps initially viscid and appear to dry out (compare specimens 6-8). Gills appear to be clay coloured, darkening with spores. Gills do appear to be notched where they join stem (Photo 13). Photos of spore print taken in natural light (Photos 14, 15). Stem shows clear separation between upper and lower areas with evidence of brown spore deposit in-between (Photos 9, 10).
