Immediately identified as a Shanny but close inspection of the photos reveals small tentacles on the head. There are not perfectly placed nor ver obvious but they ARE tentacles, or at least an adornment. I read of the common Blenny or Shanny "There are no tentacles on the top of the head. The Tompot Blenny is similar but does have a pair of tentacles on the head. It also grows up to 25 cm. and is a much thicker set fish." http://www.theseashore.org.uk/theseashore/SpeciesPages/Additional%20Species/Blennyshanny.jpg.html.
The colour is rich, the length was nearly 19cms - does make for Tompot.
