About 6 of these things have been found during an archaeological excavation on rough grazing land beside a burn at Strath, Isle of Skye. Grid Ref: NG597198. It is a roughly cylindrical vertical hole just below ground level which is packed with moss (which appears to have been chewed up). At the bottom, packed in the moss, is a small white egg. The egg is about 3mm in diameter, soft and opaque. The cylinder is about 7cm long and 2.5cm wide. It narrows slightly at each end. It comes out of the ground intact.
