This plant, originally from the Canary islands is generally regarded as the 'most splendid species' by the IOW botanist Bromfield is to be found in many parts of the IOW but particularly in the Ventnor area and around the botanic gardens and other places on the Undercliff. It seeds itself readily and can be nuisance in gardens. It is highly attractive to all kinds of insect species and flowers over a very long period.Sadly the last two very cold winters have killed or damaged many plants.
