Sericostoma personantum is a member of the caddis family Sericostomatidae. It has a rather distinctive case made out of mineral particals. The cased is gently arched and slightly tapering towards the posterior and has a round cross section. The species typically has the dark sclerites as shown in the picture and can be distinguished by looking at the anterior lateral corner of the pronotum (the large plate on the first thoracic segment). In this species the corner is drawn out into a small point. Idenitifying to family level would require the examination of several other characteristics.
