Observation - Red-tailed bumblebee - UK and Ireland. Description: I am tempted to think that this is Bombus lapidarius - male because of the yellow collar. I am tempted to think that this is Bombus lapidarius - male because of the yellow collar. The tail is redder than in B. pratorum which occurs earlier in the year (my previous iSpot image). The other possibility that I know of is B. ruderarius, which is rarer. However, on the legs that is showing in these images, there are orange hairs and I am wondering if that is more characteristic of B. ruderarius. So, I am hedging my bet (..again).
