Growing in one clump of trees in an area of meadows managed as amenity grassland with clumps of trees. Some areas have been planted up by the residents of the house backing onto the area. There is a lilac close by.

So this could be an amenity planting, a case of guerilla gardening, or a self-set plant.

Flowers in clusters at the nodes of last year's wood, giving the impression of a cylindrical raceme. Styles possibly 5, so not a Prunus. I think that it's something in the rosaceous subtribe Pyrinae, but I can't place it. Could be an ornamental crab of some form.
