I had got as far as identifying it (in the field) as a distinctive bramble, but it looks quite similar to a recent (http://www.ispotnature.org/node/409098) observation of Rubus caesius. I don't yet see an easy way of distinguishing non-fruiting material of Rubus caesius from Rubus sect. Corylifolii, but the flowers here are distinctly larger than Stace gives for the former (which isn't, fide BSBIDB, recorded anywhere near this location either).
