Observation - Wasp and prey ? - UK and Ireland. Description: Spotted this wasp very interested in leaves of St Johns Wort which had been drawn together. Spotted this wasp very interested in leaves of St Johns Wort which had been drawn together. I assume it was a female, she was very determined to inspect this 'refuge', having inspected it from various angles she curled the tip of her abdomen under as if trying to oviposit into whatever was in there.

There were lots of St Johns Wort and many many with leaves drawn together. Inspection of one of these refuges revealed the larvae photo's of which are also attached.

I think the wasp is one of the Eumeninae but I am not sure beyond that. The caterpillar ?
