These spangle galls were on a young oak tree in my garden. There are a few other interesting things in the picture. The black object is a mummified aphid. This is the pupal stage of a parasitic wasp which has infected a living aphid. It is difficult to say which aphid species it is (it might be Myzocallis or Tuberculoides ). Judging by the shape and colour of the mummified aphid body the parasitic wasp is propably a Chalcidoid, probably an Aphelinid. There are also two insects which I think might be psyllids. Is this correct?
