Fused tuft of 4 mushrooms growing out from under a dying beech. Cap 6cm across, dry (not slimy despite the rain) with upturned shaggy scales. Dome shaped with intact veil to stem hiding gills. When cut open gills coffee brown, adanate. Mushroom white, but due to scales appears golden yellow. Flesh turns yellow where cut. Scales do not rub off easily. Stipe 23cm long, tapering from 2cm to 1.5cm. Top of stipe scaly and golden becoming un-scaly and brown striated.
