The spaghetti of the sea. Sea lace is a rarer name than the preferred Mermaid's Tresses. Long (many metres), pretty uniform thickness and hairy in the water.
Picture 2 shows the strap-like Thong-weed (Himanthalia elongata) on top (for comparison).
Pictures 3 and 4 show some unusual structure. All the fronds are hollow but sometimes air sacs expand and become twisted, probably by the currents. I was able to unstrand this specimen.
Pictures are taken on a pretty exposed piece of coast (from a kayak)
