Stonewort grazed by tadpole

Observation - Stonewort grazed by tadpole. Description: Horsetail-like alga growing in a small artificially dug pond in the Marlborough Downs, grazed by a frog tadpole. I'm pretty sure this is a stonewort (becoming rare nationally), most likely a Chara species, rather than Nitella sp., but dare go no further

Horsetail-like alga growing in a small artificially dug pond in the Marlborough Downs, grazed by a frog tadpole. I'm pretty sure this is a stonewort (becoming rare nationally), most likely a Chara species, rather than Nitella sp., but dare go no further on species ID. It matches C globularis and C. virgata quite well, but many species may look similar.
