One of the "features" of the 2012/13 was a 4 week period of generally sub-zero temperatures and a persistent NE wind. As a consequence the gorse on Cleeve Hill (the highest and most exposed part of the Cotswolds) was "burnt" on the windward side forming distinctive grey-brown patches. However, as the 2nd pictues shows, new growth is starting to show.
