I hadn't realised they are so flexible. Considering that are pretty firmly attached to the rock (like limpets) one might assume they didn't need the curling reflex. So I'm now wondering if they use such curling to relocate, using currents or surge.
At no stage during my 'molestation' was it completely closed.
Note too, picture 1, how adaptive-camouflaged it is.
