Tiers of white shell-shaped brackets growing on the trunk of an oak tree. Individual brackets 15cm across. Upper surface smooth with wavy edge. Fallen brackets at base of tree. Flesh soft and broke up when handled. No stem seen. No special odour or taste. Fallen bracket taken home and photo taken on ruler. 0.5cm long conical, pointed crowded spines on under surface. According to the identification books Tiered tooth is rare so I have doubts about my identification. However, I don't know what else it could be.
