Pseudevernia furfuracea

Pseudevernia furfuracea

Observation - Pseudevernia furfuracea - UK and Ireland. Description: Shrubby lichen on hawthorn. Not at all sure about the ID. Candidates: Evernia prunastri (too many of the fronds seem round in x-section would seem to count this out); Usnea (there are some flattish fronds at the top left which are not Usnea-like); Cladoni

Shrubby lichen on hawthorn. Not at all sure about the ID. Candidates: Evernia prunastri (too many of the fronds seem round in x-section would seem to count this out); Usnea (there are some flattish fronds at the top left which are not Usnea-like); Cladonia (many of the fronds round, many bifircated at ends, some appear to have red/brown at their tips, pity about the flat ones); Ramamina (generally seems the least unlikely.)
Edit: and all wrong! Title changed to match Gardener's ID - thanks.
