Bittercress (Cardamine)

Observation - Bittercress (Cardamine) - UK and Ireland. Description: Ah, but which one? Without the flowers, how do I check if it's Hairy Bittercress (C. hirsuta) or Wavy Bittercress (C. flexuosa)? The stem appears to wavy, but Hairy bittercress also has wavy stems. Wavy is described as being hairy.

Ah, but which one? Without the flowers, how do I check if it's Hairy Bittercress (C. hirsuta) or Wavy Bittercress (C. flexuosa)?

The stem appears to wavy, but Hairy bittercress also has wavy stems. Wavy is described as being "hairy".

*confused*

It's very small, and I would think it's an annual (making it Hairy) but it could be a newly-germinated perennial Wavy.

None of it appears to be particularly hairy as such: the main stem and the petioles are very lightly downy, and there is a cluster of hairs where the petiole meets the stem.

On balance, I think it's the smaller annual bittercress, but I am willing to be over-ruled!
