Observation - Branching Oyster - UK and Ireland. Description: Buried deep inside the heavily decaying trunk of an old tree - these things were really hard to reach, never mind photograph! Buried deep inside the heavily decaying trunk of an old tree - these things were really hard to reach, never mind photograph! The caps are a pale grey with inrolled edges, the white gills are clearly decurrent and fairly widely spaced. Incidentally, just a few inches away from these in the same hollow trunk was a cluster of what I think are Shaggy Scalycaps - which I'll post separately.
EDIT: I've added a better photo of the gills which clearly shows them running down the stem and therefore, as Flaxton suggests, this is most likely Pleurotus cornucopiae
