White, lumpy, crustose thalli on vertical coastal rock in the company of Verrucaria (Hydropunctaria) maura and Caloplaca thallincola. Apothecia black, lecideine, flat to convex, some lightly pruinose; true exciple inconspicuous. Spot reactions (C, K) negative.

Photobiont chlorococcoid. Asci 8-spored; ascospores brown, 3-septate to submuriform, 15-20 x 9-10┬Ám. Paraphyses swollen and pigmented at apices. Some thalli with a thin, orange deposit - presumably Trentepohlia (orange, globose cells).
