I discovered in a partially submerged pine tree an active nest of a European Hornet with in excess of 100 coming in and out constantly. On the reverse side of the tree was an active nest of a Common Wasp in an old woodpeckers nesting hole. My question is obviously these two species can co-exist but what relationship do and can they both benefit from this. Would the Hornets consider the wasps an potential threat and visa versa?

Hope you can give me some answers to my questions?
