A really spongy seaweed growing in clumps about 25cm long very low on the shore on a low spring tide, in pools at this level and subtidally. Quite similar to the invasive, larger C. fragile, but I think the size, low shore habit and the flattening of the fronds where they branch make this C.tomentosum.
