It was officially UK Fungi Day Saturday – Sunday October 5 – 6th, and it has been great seeing what you, our iSpot users, have been out spotting!

UK Fungus Day is celebrated annually in October by the British Mycological Society joined by a range of other organisations and groups who promote and host a range of events and activities to raise awareness about fungi and fungal science. If you did not get a chance to join in on the weekend or would just like to continue this celebration, the iSpot team have a few ideas.

We have developed a fun poll as a way to acknowledge the amazing fungi postings you have made over the years! Why not join in? https://forum.ispotnature.org/t/to-celebrate-uk-fungus-day-vote-for-your-favourite-ispot-fungi-from-this-short-list-of-commonly-recorded-species/642

If you did manage to get out over the weekend, why not add your recent postings of fungi to those collected by users over the years by inserting #ukfungusday in the “Descriptive tags” box.

Also, if you are involved in UK Fungus Day as a fungus identifier, and / or an expert in this area, we need your help! Why not answer fungi identification queries or just add a comment to an observation posted on iSpot: on the front page, under the “Help confirm global observation” carousol, look for "Filter by group" click on the “Fungi and Lichens” tab / icon and choose the ones you can help with. We really appreciate it!

Have a FUN(gi) time getting involved!
