To I.D, assess and map the wildflower species and botanical diversity of the ecological corridors throughout the Tugela River Valley. A number of plant species have been found in this area which have been shown to be (substantially) outside of their known ranges. A number of rare/ threatened and endemic species have also been recorded in these areas, and further mapping of these species is required
Furthermore, a great number of alien invasive plants (Two of which include Bryophyllum delagoense and Solanum sissymbrifolium) have been recorded to grow in these areas. These plants could soon pose a major threat to the biological diversity and ecological stability of these ecological corridors, and thus the identification and mapping of their distribution throughout these areas is also a key component of this project!
