To keep track of observations for the West Coast made by divers doing the Diving Ecological Observer baieBIO and Fundi training program run by SURG as part of the SANBI SeaKeys project.
(for these projects the West Coast region is defined as from the Orange river mouth on the border of Namibia to Gansbaai in the Western Cape)

iSpot badges will be issued to baieBIO contributors and instructors

  • baieBIO blue for baieBIO divers who have uploaded at least 10 qualifying observations from one of the coastal diving regions
  • baieBIO gold for baieBIO instructors who have uploaded at least 30 qualifying observations from one of the coastal diving regions
  • Fundi blue for baieBIO divers who have uploaded at least 10 qualifying observations from each of the coastal diving regions
  • Fundi gold for baieBIO instructors who have uploaded at least 30 qualifying observations from each of the coastal diving regions

A qualifying observation is an observation uploaded through the user's personal iSpot account, with at least one potentially identifiable photo, that is legitimately tagged with SeaKeys, baieBIO (note these are case sensitive) and any other appropriate tags, has an acceptably precise location (within about 100m, i.e. three decimal places for latitude and longitude), and a reasonable attempt at identification.
