This sub family is one of the more complex subfamilies of the Cerambycidae, where some of the characteristics of a tribe (next level down from sub family) can only be seen in hand specimens under high magnification, whilst other characteristics are noticeable in good photographs of live specimens.
The quality of insect photography on Ispot has increased to such an extent that small detail ( for example punctures on the pronotum of a centimeter sized insect) are recognizable, which allows for the identification of these insects.
Thus this projects purpose is simple - form a basis for the appreciation of these beetles through the dissemination of knowledge on a level that all can understand.
Only time will tell if the aim of this project - Southern African round neck longhorn beetles made easy - is achievable, but we wish to believe it is with the help of the ISPOT community !!!!
