The genus Erica is the largest and one of the most diverse genera in the Cape Peninsula. The tubular flowers vary hugely in colour and size. Pollination strategies also differ between species, from wind to insects to sunbirds.

With most photos taken by a small, handheld digital microscope, this project documents the intricate internal structures of the Erica flowers. Hopefully it will eventually display the approximately 100 species of the Cape Peninsula and serve as an ID guide for this notoriously difficult genus.
