These handsome Moustached pallid sugar ants [Camponotus mystaceus] were sharing the same rocky nest-cover with a small colony of termites and a nest of invasive alien Argentine ants. Despite the huge difference in size between the species [Argentines >3mm, Camponotines 12 - 20mm] the Argentines - Linepithema humile - will wipe out the Camponotus without difficulty.
I have tried to post this as an interaction without success. My version of iSpot will only let me put in a pic for one of the interacting species, and refuses to accept any pics for the other, so what's the point in my wasting more time on trying?
