Spotted by our ant enthusiast Peter Slingsby in his own back yard.

Heaven help us if we all have a new alien ant in our garden walls.

The ID is confirmed by myrmecologists Brian Fisher and Barry Bolton of California, and Vincento Gentile of Italy, as Ochetellus glaber, a first record for Africa. The original ID was done by Melanie!!!

I dont know if we are to thank or decry Peter for this observation.

What to do now??
Obviously, get out there and figure out how common and widespread it is. I am sure Peter will have some suggestions for achieving this soon.
