With apologies to Mike's inspirational project: "Here be dragons?"

There are always places which never get much visited. This project identifies those areas (at this stage in units of 1:50 000 maps or 25X25km2) for which we have less than 10 observations. Our - exceedingly ambitious - goal for 2020 is to have none, and to move to 50 observations per grid square.

Ideally we should aim to have at least as many observations per cell - with a Likely_ID - as there are species recorded for it: but that at this stage is pure dream-time.***

This is a work in progress and will take a few days to explore and compile. Lolu, a SANBI intern will prepare the shapefiles for adding to the project. Cells with more than 10 observations will periodically be weeded out.

Please help by visiting these areas and doing comprehensive photoshoots of plants in flower and goggos about and birds that stand still long enough and anything else that you see. Please dont stop at 10 observations!!!!

At this early stage, the map is pure demonstration of principle. It will soon be lots of little squares (and where these are contiguous, bigger ones.
