Can anyone ID the white flower in these images taken on Lesbos, Greece in May? They grew in clumps near the coast and in olive groves, grew to 2-3ft high and were a huge draw for many kinds of insects. My photos were taken for the insects, but I'd like to know what the plant is. Some kind of Valerian maybe?. Just possibly the white form of Red valerian, Centranthus ruber, but I'm not sure if the flowers emerge form the buds like this. The inverts: Thread-winged lacewing (Nemoptera sinuata); Crab spider Synema globosa with horse fly (Pangonius pyritosus) prey, and Soldier fly (Odontomyia flavissima).
