Growing on dead wood under a Beech tree. Taste was bitter. Caps were possibly not 100% open and were about 3cm across, fruitbodies about 4-5cm tall. It seemed different to Hypholoma fasciculare because of the cap colour. also the underside colour was a stronger yellow. The stem seems thicker than Hypholoma fasciculare I've found in the past. Thanks for the ID suggestion Alison and for the confirmation. *Update* I went back and the caps had matured (see photos 6 onward). It now looks like H. fasciculare...! The smell isn't mushroomy, it's difficult to describe, maybe a little bit aromatic and a little grassy. At the bottom left of photos 6 and 7 you can see the fruitbody I picked the first time around which has now given off spores and the gill colour changed because of this
