This is a one week old Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) chick that I am currently hand rearing. Note the milk tooth still present on the beak, indicating this incredibly young age.
Rest assured, the chick was returned to it's nest twice before the hard decision to hand rear was taken. He was thrown out by his nest mate, whom is at least 48 hours older than him, and therefore had grown much bigger than him by the time he was expelled from the nest.
I am raising him with advice from an urban gull expert and a hand rearing centre, so he should thrive.
