Observation - Green Tortoise Beetle larvae have hatched. Description: Green Tortoise Beetle larvae that have just hatched out from the oothecae I collected 12 days ago on Hedge Woundwort leaves. The black bits are sticks of excrement that they extrude, and then carefully stick onto appendages on their rear ends, taking about 20 minutes to produce one stick. One of the strangest things I've watched down a binocular microscope.
