For some months our developers have been hard at work on the next upgrade to iSpot, and we hope to be able to launch this in July. The planned changes include:

  • Refreshing the appearance of the site as a whole
  • An exciting new "Projects" feature that will allow you gather the observations you wish to see, whether for a particular location (such as a nature reserve), species group or time period, on to one page that you can share with others
  • A rework of the MySpot area to start introducing a more personalised iSpot. This includes:
    • a new landing page (your 'Hub'), displaying content that is customised for your interests
    • a clearer filter area where users can create and save their own private filters, with their currently selected filter displaying as a carousel of images on their MySpot page
  • More consistent presentation of the different views of iSpot's observations (e.g. via lists, maps, galleries)
  • The option to see iSpot in Spanish as well as English

We are currently carrying out testing of the new site with a range of volunteers, including people new to iSpot and some of the most active current iSpotters. Once the new site goes live we will continue to monitor feedback and ensure that all is working as it should.

We look forward to sharing the next phase of iSpot with you soon!
