Description:

Several, small black day flying moths observed flying above overgrown area of grassland / umbellifers adjacent to the mineral line. Individuals were slightly smaller than Common blue butterflies (Polyommatus icarus) and were so difficult to approach as they would disappear long distances at the slightest movement. Individuals have dark wing colour with “sooty brown highlights and note how the fringe at the tip of the forewings is white; this extends in a thinner line along the fringe of the outer margin.
