One of a pair of trapped fellows leaping amazingly high - but not high enough - from their now dry "fall trap" at my approach. By lying on my stomach I was able to reach down - just - and grab them. Neither came easy, more terrified of their predator than their predicament. Neither tried to bite the hand that saved them, but took off into the grass like speed-striped rockets!
Fallen/washed into road-side concrete storm-drain sumps where most had drowned. This particular sump was near the top of the slope and had dried out. Farm management alerted to the problem.
